Laser test could reveal hidden nerve pain

NCT ID NCT06030297

First seen Apr 23, 2026 · Last updated May 01, 2026 · Updated 2 times

Summary

This study tested whether a special laser can act as a biological marker for nerve pain in people with peripheral neuropathy. 75 participants received either a lidocaine or placebo patch in a blinded crossover design, and laser measurements were taken before and after treatment. The goal was to see if the laser could objectively detect pain changes that match what patients report. This is a knowledge-gathering study, not a treatment trial.
