Simple tests could save thousands of diabetic legs from amputation

NCT ID NCT05009602

First seen Oct 31, 2025 · Last updated May 24, 2026 · Updated 26 times

Summary

This study looked at how well simple bedside tests (like using a Doppler device or checking blood pressure in the ankle and toe) can detect poor leg circulation in people with diabetes. Poor circulation is a major cause of leg amputations in diabetes. The study involved 604 adults with diabetes and compared these simple tests to advanced imaging scans (CTA or MRA) to see which ones are most accurate.
