Rwanda tests new ways to train rural doctors for faster breast cancer diagnosis

NCT ID NCT06812208

First seen May 05, 2026 · Last updated May 22, 2026 · Updated 5 times

Summary

This study aims to make breast cancer diagnosis faster in rural Rwanda by training non-radiologist clinicians to perform breast ultrasound. Currently, only specialists at city hospitals can do these scans, causing delays. The project will compare two support strategies—live remote guidance versus recorded feedback—to see which works better and costs less. About 1,792 women will take part across multiple district hospitals.
