Rwanda tests new ways to diagnose breast cancer faster in rural areas

NCT ID NCT06812208

First seen May 05, 2026 · Last updated May 05, 2026

Summary

This study aims to make breast cancer diagnosis faster in Rwanda by training non-radiologist clinicians at rural district hospitals to perform breast ultrasound. Currently, only radiologists at urban hospitals offer this service, causing delays. The project will compare two support strategies—live remote guidance and recorded feedback—to see which works best and costs less. About 1,792 women will take part across multiple hospitals.
