Could a diabetes pill boost heart function in fontan patients?

NCT ID NCT07482943

First seen Mar 21, 2026 · Last updated May 21, 2026 · Updated 8 times

Summary

This study tests whether dapagliflozin, a drug used for diabetes, can improve exercise ability and heart function in people who have had the Fontan procedure for a single-ventricle heart condition. About 30 adolescents and adults will take the drug daily for 3 months. The main goal is to see if it increases oxygen use during exercise, which would mean better heart and lung fitness.
