Pandemic's hidden toll: MS relapses went underreported
NCT ID NCT04858763
First seen Mar 20, 2026 · Last updated May 01, 2026 · Updated 6 times
Summary
This study looked at how people with multiple sclerosis (MS) reported and managed relapses during the first wave of the COVID-19 pandemic (April–June 2020) compared to the same months in 2019. Researchers reviewed records from 51 patients across 5 UK hospitals to see if the pandemic changed how relapses were handled, including decisions about steroids and disease-modifying drugs. The goal was to understand the pandemic's impact on MS care, not to test a new treatment.
