Can a simple steroid course save lives in severe respiratory infections?

Summary
This study looks at whether giving a common steroid (prednisolone) for 7 days can help hospitalized adults with severe lung infections and low oxygen levels. About 3,000 participants will be randomly assigned to receive the steroid or standard care without it. The goal is to see if the steroid reduces deaths and the need for breathing machines.
