First seen Nov 01, 2025 · Last updated May 14, 2026 · Updated 27 times

Summary

This study looks at whether giving a common steroid (prednisolone) for 7 days can help hospitalized adults with severe lung infections and low oxygen levels. About 3,000 participants will be randomly assigned to receive the steroid or no steroid. The main goal is to see if the steroid reduces deaths within 28 days and the need for breathing machines.
