First seen Mar 10, 2026 · Last updated May 23, 2026 · Updated 12 times
Summary
This study aims to understand why some COPD patients benefit from inhaled steroids (ICS) while others do not, by looking at molecular changes in the body. Researchers will recruit 135 former smokers with stable COPD who are already on dual bronchodilators. Participants will be grouped by their blood eosinophil levels and randomly assigned to receive ICS or continue usual care, with samples taken to analyze genes, proteins, and microbes.
