Summary

This study tests whether wearing a special cooling vest before exercise can help recreational athletes handle hot, humid conditions better. Thirty non-regularly trained adults will exercise in a hot lab, with and without the vest, while researchers measure heart rate, skin temperature, and perceived effort. The goal is to see if pre-cooling can reduce heat strain and improve safety for weekend athletes.

What this could mean

Our plain-language read of the trial. This is informational only, not medical advice or a prediction.

Active substance
Temperature-controlled cooling vest
What this could lead to
If effective, this cooling vest could offer a simple, non-fatiguing way for recreational athletes to exercise more safely in hot weather.
What could go wrong
This is a small, early-stage study with only 30 participants. The cooling vest may not provide significant benefits, and results may not apply to all athletes or real-world conditions.
