First seen Feb 28, 2026 · Last updated Jun 18, 2026 · Updated 23 times

Summary

This study tests whether special reflective roof coatings can lower indoor temperatures and improve health in hot regions. About 3,200 people living in poor housing in Burkina Faso, Mexico, India, Niue, and Fiji will take part. Researchers will measure heart rate, blood sugar, depression, and other health outcomes to see if cool roofs help protect against heat-related illness.
