New breast scan could replace MRI for cancer detection

NCT ID NCT03495115

First seen Apr 21, 2026 · Last updated May 21, 2026 · Updated 5 times

Summary

This study tested a new imaging technique called restriction spectrum imaging (RSI) to see if it works as well as standard breast MRI for finding breast cancer. Researchers compared the accuracy of RSI and MRI in 460 women who came for routine screening. The goal was to see if RSI could be a simpler alternative for detecting breast cancer.
