Phone-Based pain coaching shows promise for vulnerable seniors

Summary
This study tests whether community health workers can effectively teach pain management skills to older adults with chronic pain. Over 400 primarily African American older adults will receive 7 weeks of phone coaching and mobile tools to learn strategies for coping with pain. Researchers will compare pain levels and daily function at 2 and 12 months against a group receiving usual care.
