First seen Jan 31, 2026 · Last updated May 21, 2026 · Updated 15 times

Summary

This study tests whether colchicine, a common anti-inflammatory drug, can reduce inflammation and lower the risk of heart disease in people with type 1 diabetes. About 100 adults aged 35-80 with type 1 diabetes will take either colchicine or a placebo daily for 26 weeks, with an optional 26-week extension. Researchers will track changes in blood markers of inflammation and heart health, and follow participants for up to 5 years.
