Chocolate pills and vitamins put to the test in massive health study

NCT ID NCT02422745

Summary

This large study aimed to find out if taking daily cocoa extract (from cocoa beans) or a standard multivitamin could help prevent heart disease and cancer in older adults. Over 21,000 men aged 60+ and women aged 65+ were randomly assigned to take either the real supplements or placebo pills for several years. Researchers tracked their health through yearly questionnaires to see if the supplements made a difference.
