First seen Nov 01, 2025 · Last updated Apr 14, 2026 · Updated 19 times
Summary
This large study aimed to find out if taking daily cocoa extract or a standard multivitamin could help prevent heart disease and cancer in older adults. Over 21,000 men aged 60+ and women aged 65+ were randomly assigned to take either the real supplements or look-alike placebo pills for several years. Researchers tracked whether these common dietary supplements reduced the risk of serious health events like heart attacks, strokes, and new cancer diagnoses.
