First seen Nov 01, 2025 · Last updated May 23, 2026 · Updated 27 times

Summary

This study followed 254 babies born with cytomegalovirus (CMV) to see if tests done shortly after birth could predict hearing loss or brain problems at age 1. Researchers checked brain scans, hearing tests, and blood markers to build a risk score. The study also screened 12,000 newborns to estimate how common CMV is in France.
