NCT ID NCT04580134
First seen Feb 06, 2026 · Last updated May 21, 2026 · Updated 16 times
Summary
This study tests whether clozapine, a powerful antipsychotic, works better than risperidone for people with schizophrenia, schizoaffective disorder, or bipolar 1 disorder who have a specific brain-based 'biotype.' About 320 adults will be randomly assigned to receive either clozapine or risperidone for 18 weeks. Researchers will measure changes in symptoms using a standard rating scale to see if clozapine leads to greater improvement in the targeted biotype group.
