Body clock study reveals when your time sense goes haywire

NCT ID NCT07294781

First seen Jan 10, 2026 · Last updated May 23, 2026 · Updated 21 times

Summary

This study looks at how your internal body clock changes the way you experience time when you stay awake for 36 hours. Healthy adults aged 23 to 45 will stay in a controlled lab, awake the whole time, with everything kept constant. Every two hours, they will do short tests on time perception, reaction speed, and mood, and give saliva samples to measure melatonin. The goal is to find out when people are most likely to misjudge time or feel less alert, which could help plan safer shift work schedules.
