Salt and genes: the hidden keys to high blood pressure?

NCT ID NCT01426529

First seen Jan 02, 2026 · Last updated May 22, 2026 · Updated 19 times

Summary

This study looks at how a gene called Caveolin-1 affects blood vessel function in people with high blood pressure. Researchers will measure heart and artery health after low-salt and high-salt diets. About 120 adults with mild to moderate hypertension will participate. The goal is to understand why some people are salt-sensitive, not to test a new treatment.
