Cash for moms: can $40 a month boost kids' brain health?

NCT ID NCT05477901

First seen Apr 24, 2026 · Last updated Apr 30, 2026 · Updated 2 times

Summary

This study looks at whether giving mothers in Brazil extra cash each month can protect their children's brain development and mental health. About 450 families with children ages 7-10 will be randomly assigned to receive either a high ($40/month) or low ($2/month) cash supplement for two years. Researchers will measure stress, inflammation, brain scans, and family well-being to see if more money makes a difference.
