Mirror, phone, and a flashlight: can you check your own tonsils?

NCT ID NCT07205653

First seen Nov 01, 2025 · Last updated Jun 19, 2026 · Updated 28 times

Summary

This study looks at whether people can correctly measure the size of their own tonsils using a mirror, flashlight, and phone camera. About 90 participants will learn two simple scales, then do a self-check. Their results will be compared to those from a medical student and two ear, nose, and throat specialists. If accurate, this could help people with sleep apnea or swallowing problems get faster referrals to a surgeon, saving time and healthcare resources.
