New breathing technology tested to help tiniest babies breathe on their own

Summary
This study compares two different non-invasive breathing support methods for extremely premature infants who are being taken off mechanical ventilators. Researchers want to see if a newer technology called NIV-NAVA, which syncs with the baby's own breathing efforts, works better than standard non-synchronized breathing support at preventing babies from needing to go back on the ventilator. The trial involves 478 babies born between 23 and 28 weeks gestation across multiple medical centers.
