Zapping the brain to ease fibromyalgia pain?
NCT ID NCT01308801
Summary
This study tested whether a non-invasive brain stimulation technique, called repetitive transcranial magnetic stimulation (rTMS), could boost the pain-relieving effects of standard exercise therapy for people with fibromyalgia. 42 participants with fibromyalgia were randomly assigned to receive either real or fake (placebo) brain stimulation along with their exercise program. The main goal was to see if the combination led to greater pain reduction over 14 weeks compared to exercise alone.
