Magnetic pulses to the brain tested as new weapon against fibromyalgia pain

NCT ID NCT01308801

Summary

This study tested whether a non-invasive brain stimulation technique, called repetitive transcranial magnetic stimulation (rTMS), could improve pain relief when added to standard rehabilitation exercises for people with fibromyalgia. Forty-two patients were randomly assigned to receive either real rTMS or a placebo (fake) stimulation along with their exercise program. The main goal was to see if the combination led to better pain control over 14 weeks compared to exercise alone.
