Can a simple drug stop dangerous bleeding in kidney patients during surgery?

NCT ID NCT06337838

First seen Mar 29, 2026 · Last updated Jun 12, 2026 · Updated 12 times

Summary

This study tests whether giving two common drugs, tranexamic acid and desmopressin, before surgery can reduce bleeding in patients with chronic kidney disease or acute kidney injury. About 100 adults having noncardiac surgery will be randomly assigned to receive one or both drugs or a placebo. The goal is to see if these drugs are safe and effective at preventing serious bleeding complications.
