New hope for severe asthma: heat treatment may slash attacks
NCT ID NCT07292805
First seen Jan 04, 2026 · Last updated May 01, 2026 · Updated 21 times
Summary
This study tests a procedure called bronchial thermoplasty (BT) for adults with severe asthma that still causes attacks despite using biologics or other standard treatments. BT uses a thin tube to deliver heat to the airways to reduce muscle overreactivity. The study will compare BT to usual care in 90 people to see if it lowers the number of severe asthma attacks and improves quality of life over one year.
