Summary

This study is testing whether eating wild blueberry powder every day for 16 weeks can improve blood flow and insulin sensitivity in the brains of older adults. Researchers will use MRI scans to measure changes in 36 overweight volunteers aged 60-75. The goal is to understand how blueberries might help keep the brain healthy as we age.

What this could mean

Our plain-language read of the trial. This is informational only, not medical advice or a prediction.

Active substance
wild blueberry powder
What this could lead to
If it works, this could point toward a simple dietary way to support brain health in aging.
What could go wrong
This is a small early-stage study (36 people) looking at brain scans, not clinical outcomes. Results may not translate to real-world benefits.

Phase

Not a phased trial

Phase numbers describe drug development. The registry uses this when they do not apply, as it does for trials of devices, procedures or behaviour changes, and for observational studies.
