First seen Apr 30, 2026 · Last updated Jun 18, 2026 · Updated 11 times

Summary

This study looks at how a beta-blocker (propranolol) and nicotine patches affect brain activity and cravings when smokers see smoking-related cues. About 80 daily smokers will take these medications briefly and undergo brain scans. The goal is to understand the brain mechanisms behind cigarette cravings, not to help people quit smoking.
