Can text messages help pregnant moms quit smoking? new study aims to find out
NCT ID NCT04985903
First seen Jun 27, 2026 · Last updated Jun 30, 2026 · Updated 2 times
Summary
This study tests whether combining text message support for pregnant women who smoke with special training for their doctors can help them quit. About 840 women at Duke and Pitt will receive smoking cessation texts throughout pregnancy. Some doctors will also get extra training on how to counsel patients. The goal is to see if this approach leads to more women quitting, confirmed by a urine test.
