Summary

This study tests whether awake prone positioning (lying on your stomach while awake) can improve breathing in 15 adults with sickle cell disease who are in the intensive care unit for severe acute chest syndrome. The approach aims to improve oxygen levels and reduce breathing effort. It is a small, early-stage safety and feasibility trial.
