First seen Nov 01, 2025 · Last updated Jun 18, 2026 · Updated 35 times
Summary
This study is a 5-year extension that follows people who previously took part in the AREDS or AREDS2 studies. Its purpose is to observe how age-related macular degeneration (AMD) and cataracts naturally progress over time. Participants receive yearly eye exams and are contacted between visits to monitor their eye health. No new treatments are being tested; the goal is to gather long-term data on these eye conditions.
