Water workouts could be the key to back pain relief
NCT ID NCT06437314
First seen Aug 14, 2026 · Last updated Aug 14, 2026
Summary
This trial tests whether a six-week aquatic program based on the 'back school' approach can reduce pain and disability in adults with non-specific low back pain. Participants are randomly assigned to either attend the program (twice weekly, 45-minute sessions) or to a control group that does not attend. The program combines trunk exercises with education, following a biopsychosocial model. Researchers will compare changes in pain, disability, quality of life, and fear of movement between the two groups.

- Aquatic back school program
- What this could lead to
- If effective, this program could offer a non-drug, exercise-based approach to reduce pain and disability in people with chronic low back pain.
- What could go wrong
- This is a small, early-stage trial, and results may not apply to everyone. The program requires regular attendance, and benefits may not last beyond the six-week period.
