Smartphone app could take the guesswork out of water pill dosing for kidney patients

NCT ID NCT04759274

First seen Nov 01, 2025 · Last updated Jun 18, 2026 · Updated 36 times

Summary

This study tests whether a smartphone app can help people with kidney problems control body swelling by guiding daily adjustments to their water pill (diuretic) dose. Thirty adults with advanced kidney disease or nephrotic syndrome who have swelling will use the app for 90 days, entering their weight and blood pressure each day. The app then gives instructions on medication changes. Researchers will track how quickly patients reach their target weight and how stable their weight stays over time.
