Blood thinner may boost dialysis access success in kidney patients
NCT ID NCT07559942
First seen May 05, 2026 · Last updated May 20, 2026 · Updated 2 times
Summary
This study tests whether a short course of the blood thinner apixaban can help new dialysis fistulas mature properly in people with end-stage kidney disease. About 190 adults will receive either apixaban or a placebo around the time of fistula surgery. The goal is to see if the drug reduces early clotting and improves fistula readiness for dialysis, while monitoring for bleeding risks.
