Antioxidant pill may shield skin from city smog
NCT ID NCT07793123
First seen Aug 28, 2026 · Last updated Sep 17, 2026 · Updated 2 times
Summary
Researchers are testing whether a daily oral antioxidant supplement can improve skin radiance in healthy women aged 35 to 65 who live in urban areas and are exposed to air pollution. The trial gives participants either the supplement or a placebo for 90 days, then measures skin radiance, tone, pigmentation, and other skin health markers. The goal is to see if the supplement can counteract some of the skin dullness linked to city living.
What this could mean
Our plain-language read of the trial. This is informational only, not medical advice or a prediction.
- Active substance
- an oral antioxidant dietary supplement
- What this could lead to
- If it works, this could point toward a simple daily supplement that helps protect skin from the visible effects of urban air pollution.
- What could go wrong
- This is a small, early-stage trial with 60 participants, so results may not apply to everyone. The supplement may not improve skin radiance, and any benefits could be modest.
