Shocking the core: new study zaps legs to strengthen pelvic floor

NCT ID NCT07554612

First seen Apr 29, 2026 · Last updated May 19, 2026 · Updated 4 times

Summary

This study looks at whether using electrical stimulation on the trunk and leg muscles can help strengthen the pelvic floor in healthy women. Pelvic floor muscles are deep and hard to work on purpose, so researchers want to see if stimulating nearby muscles can help indirectly. Sixty women will be split into three groups: one gets electrical stimulation plus exercise, one gets a fake stimulation plus exercise, and one does exercise only. The program lasts 6 weeks, and strength is measured with a special pressure device.
