First seen Oct 01, 2025 · Last updated May 22, 2026 · Updated 28 times
Summary
This study tests whether a metal rod (nail) coated with antibiotics can prevent serious infections in people with severe open fractures of the shinbone. About 484 adults will be randomly assigned to get either the antibiotic-coated nail or the standard nail. Researchers will track who develops a deep infection over the next year.
