First seen Oct 01, 2025 · Last updated May 14, 2026 · Updated 27 times

Summary

This study is for adults with a severe open break of the shin bone (tibia) who need surgery to fix it with a metal rod (nail). The researchers want to see if using a nail coated with antibiotics can prevent deep bone infections better than the standard uncoated nail. About 484 people will take part and be followed for one year to check for infections and bone healing.
