First seen Nov 01, 2025 · Last updated May 22, 2026 · Updated 26 times

Summary

This study tests whether the heart medication amiodarone can prevent atrial fibrillation (an irregular, often rapid heartbeat) in people recovering from minimally invasive esophageal cancer surgery. Atrial fibrillation is the most common complication after this surgery, and there is no standard preventive treatment. The trial will randomly assign 90 participants to receive amiodarone or not, and track who develops the heart rhythm problem within seven days.
