Brain scans may unlock secrets of ALS

NCT ID NCT02567136

First seen Dec 11, 2025 · Last updated May 18, 2026 · Updated 22 times

Summary

This study uses powerful MRI scans to find biological markers, or 'biomarkers,' for ALS and a related condition called PLS. Researchers will compare brain scans from 30 people—those with ALS, those with PLS, and healthy volunteers—to spot differences that could lead to better treatments. The goal is to understand these diseases better, not to test a new drug or cure.
