First seen Apr 26, 2026 · Last updated May 23, 2026 · Updated 5 times
Summary
This study tested an artificial intelligence (AI) system that helps doctors identify whether growths in the colon (polyps) are cancerous or harmless during a colonoscopy. 570 adults with at least one colon polyp took part. The AI analyzed live video from a special microscope to give an instant diagnosis, which could reduce the need for removing non-cancerous polyps and lower healthcare costs.
