NCT ID NCT07343895
First seen Jan 17, 2026 · Last updated Jun 19, 2026 · Updated 30 times
Summary
This study is testing whether using a portable ECG monitor for 5-7 days can detect hidden atrial fibrillation in people with elevated NT-proBNP levels. 4,000 adults aged 40+ without known AF will be randomly assigned to monitoring or usual care. The goal is to see if early detection and treatment can lower the risk of stroke and heart-related death over 6 years.

What this could mean
Our plain-language read of the trial. This is informational only — not medical advice or a prediction.
Active substance
long-term ECG monitoring device (ECG247)
What this could lead to
If successful, this could show that screening high-risk individuals with a wearable ECG device helps prevent strokes and heart-related deaths.
What could go wrong
This is an observational screening study, not a treatment trial. It may not prove that monitoring directly reduces strokes, and results may not apply to everyone.
