Summary

This study looks at whether the intense pain people feel right before emergency surgery can lead to pain that lasts for months afterward. Researchers will follow about 700 adults having emergency orthopedic or abdominal surgery. They want to see if the level of pain before surgery is linked to chronic pain 3 months later.
