NCT ID NCT07451080

What the study statuses mean

This study's is highlighted.

Recruitment status, easiest to join first

Recruiting now
This trial is taking on new participants right now.
Not yet recruiting
Registered, but not yet taking participants.
By invitation only
Not open to general applications. Only people the study team invites can take part.
Paused
Paused for now. It may or may not start again.
Ongoing
Running, but no longer taking on new participants.
Completed This study
The trial has finished. Results may not be published yet.
Stopped early
Stopped early, before it reached the end. That can be for many reasons, including safety.
Cancelled
Cancelled before anyone took part.

Expanded access (not trials)

Expanded access
Not a trial. This treatment can be requested outside a study, case by case, for people who qualify.
Expanded access (paused)
Not a trial. The treatment can normally be requested outside a study, but is unavailable right now.
Expanded access (ended)
Not a trial. The treatment could once be requested outside a study, but no longer can.
Approved
The treatment has been approved, so it is available normally rather than through this programme.

When the status isn't known

Details not published

Summary

This study looked at 100 adults to see if a common anatomical variation—an air pocket in a small bone near the eye socket—changes the shape of the optic canal or the thickness of the nerve layer at the back of the eye. Using CT scans and eye imaging, researchers compared people with and without this air pocket. The goal was simply to understand the relationship, not to test a treatment.

Who can take part

Who is studied

This study population consists of adult patients aged 18 to 65 years who underwent both head and neck computed tomography (CT) imaging and optical coherence tomography (OCT) examinations at Elazığ Fethi Sekin City Hospital between August 2018 and July 2025. Patients will be retrospectively identified through the hospital electronic medical record and PACS archive systems. Participants will be categorized based on the presence or absence of anterior clinoid process (ACP) pneumatization on CT imaging.

Inclusion Criteria: * Adults aged 18 to 65 years. * Availability of head and neck computed tomography (CT) imaging in the hospital archive. * Availability of optical coherence tomography (OCT) examination records in the hospital archive. * CT and OCT examinations performed between August 2018 and July 2025. Exclusion Criteria: * Age \<18 years or \>65 years. History or evidence of diabetes mellitus. History or evidence of hypertension. Glaucoma. Any condition or diagnosis that may cause optic nerve pathology (e.g., optic neuritis, compressive optic neuropathy, optic atrophy, demyelinating disease affecting the optic nerve). Inadequate image quality or incomplete CT/OCT data preventing reliable measurements.
