Hidden air pockets in skull may reshape Eye's nerve pathway
NCT ID NCT07451080
First seen Jun 27, 2026 · Last updated Jun 27, 2026
Summary
This study looked at 100 adults to see if a common anatomical variation—an air pocket in a small bone near the eye socket—changes the shape of the optic canal or the thickness of the nerve layer at the back of the eye. Using CT scans and eye imaging, researchers compared people with and without this air pocket. The goal was simply to understand the relationship, not to test a treatment.
