New scan could sharpen view of liver cancer spread

NCT ID NCT05176223

First seen Feb 05, 2026 · Last updated May 24, 2026 · Updated 10 times

Summary

This study tested whether a special PET scan using a radioactive tracer (68Ga-PSMA) can improve how doctors see and manage advanced liver cancer that has spread. 29 adults with liver cancer not treatable by surgery or transplant took part. The scan targets a protein common on liver cancer cells, aiming to give clearer images than standard methods.
