New MRI technique could make breast biopsy markers more visible
NCT ID NCT06873802
First seen Jun 26, 2026 · Last updated Jun 26, 2026
Summary
This study tested whether a special MRI sequence called ZTE can show breast biopsy markers made of bone cement more clearly than standard metal markers. Twenty adults with breast cancer had MRI scans, and two radiologists rated how well the markers were seen. The goal is to improve follow-up imaging for breast cancer patients.
What this could mean
Our plain-language read of the trial. This is informational only — not medical advice or a prediction.
What this could lead to
If successful, this could improve how doctors see breast biopsy markers on MRI, potentially making follow-up scans clearer and safer.
What could go wrong
This is a small, completed imaging study with only 20 participants. It does not test a treatment, so any benefits are limited to better imaging, not disease outcomes.
