New study aims to prevent bone fractures after osteoporosis drug switch

NCT ID NCT06767150

First seen Jan 05, 2026 · Last updated Apr 28, 2026 · Updated 14 times

Summary

This study looks at the best way to give zoledronic acid to women who have stopped taking denosumab for osteoporosis. Stopping denosumab can cause a rapid bone loss and increase fracture risk. The trial will compare a personalized, biomarker-guided approach versus a standard schedule of zoledronic acid infusions. About 200 postmenopausal women who have been on denosumab for at least two years will participate.
