NCT ID NCT05276674

First seen Jun 27, 2026 ยท Last updated Jun 27, 2026

Summary

This study is checking how well a special nail works for fixing thigh bone fractures. The nail has a coating designed to reduce infection. About 100 adults with thigh fractures will get this nail and be followed for a year to see if the bone heals properly and how well they can use their leg again.

What this could mean

Our plain-language read of the trial. This is informational only โ€” not medical advice or a prediction.

Active substance
ZNN Bactiguard Retrograde Femoral Nail (a medical device coated with an antibacterial layer to reduce infection risk)
What this could lead to
If successful, this study could confirm that the Bactiguard-coated nail is a safe and effective option for fixing thigh fractures, potentially reducing infection rates.
What could go wrong
This is a post-market study, meaning the device is already approved. The main risk is that the coating may not significantly reduce infections or improve healing compared to standard nails.
